I think its fair to say I am a self  taught cook, inspired by a childhood of tough roasts and lumpy mash.  After a rare treat out at a local pub where I was served roast lamb with a rich gravy that wasn’t made from Bisto, followed by a creamy gooseberry fool, I started to understand why some people loved food. At the age of 19 I rented a flat, bought a wok and a cookbook and embarked in a culinary love affair.

In summer I still love to go down the garden and pinch a stick of rhubarb to dip in sugar, and am pleased to say that my children know what a home grown potato tastes like, and that a chicken is something that runs round our garden and isn’t just meat from the fridge.
Nothing makes me more content than sitting in the kitchen trying out a new recipe for a new cookbook and then sharing it with friends. The washing up im not so keen on.
